Q: What’s the difference between Redmond fossilized salts and Dead Sea salts?
A: All salts are sea salts either mined as rock, or evaporated from saline solution. Our fossilized mineral salts are rock mined from an environmentally protected dead lake bed in Redmond, Utah that was sealed by volcanic activity during the Jurassic era. Dead Sea salts are evaporated from saline solution pulled from the Dead Sea, an open air living lake bed between Israel and Jordan, which contains many minerals as well as today’s modern pollutants. When looking for the best quality salts, make note of the ingredients and color. Good Witch's Brew uses only 100% Gourmet Redmond Real Salt which contains over 50 naturally occurring trace minerals as indicated by its subtle pink color. Other salt manufacturers save money by using bleached evaporated sea salt as filler mixed with Epsom salt to mimic the muscle relaxing effects of a true natural mineral salt. Most contain artificial color, anti-caking chemicals, and fragrance additives.

Q: Do your canisters rust?
A: No! The canisters are made of aluminum and will not rust. We use them because they are lightweight, retain the scent of the essential oils, and make for very attractive gift packaging. The canisters are also reusable and recyclable
(top)Q: Is there a shelf-life issue with bath salts?
A: There can be. We use a special foil-lined coffee bags and aluminum canisters to retain freshness. You'll see other companies using paper bags or plastic containers for their salts. These types of package materials cannot contain the scent of the essential oils resulting in limited shelf life as older stock loses it's aromatherapy benefit.
(top)Q: Why don't you use Epsom salt like so many other manufacturers?
A: A common base recipe for bath salts is Epsom salts mixed with dead sea salts. We don't need to use Epsom salts because magnesium, the active ingredient in epsom, along with 49 other trace minerals is already present in our fossilized "Redmond" salts. Most sea salts are processed from evaporated saline solution which takes away nearly all the mineral content.
(top)Q: Will your salts cleanse the body and soul?
A: As a regular bather I have a personal connection with the bath salts I produce. For those looking to use this product for spiritual purposes, I can only say that our fossilized rock mined salts are highly unique in that they are Kosher grade, unprocessed and contain none of the additives typical of evaporated salt. I, therefore, believe that one should find them "energetically" pure.
(top)Q: Are your salts safe for use in a Jacuzzi?
A: We're not sure. We've received different answers from different companies. Our salts contain essential oils, jojoba oil and salt which may or may not have detrimental effects on whirlpool hardware or chemistries. Please ask your manufacturer or installer.
